Etsy Haul: Blue Daisy By Dawn

I recently purchased from the new Fresh as a Daisy line found at: Blue Daisy By Dawn

Here is what I got:
  • Venus Raspberry Bubble Bath 2 oz.
  • Body Quench in Watermelon Kiwi 2 oz.
  • Hathor unscented Makeup Remover 2 oz.
The Venus bubble bath smells really good and is very affordable!

The Body Quench is wonderful for keeping cool during the hot summer and for hot flashes. I got to smell both fragrances and they both smell really pretty. The other fragrance is Aloe Cucumber. I chose the Watermelon because it happens to be one of my favorite scents (and fruits).
Description:
Quench is made from herb extracts and essential oils....with no rosemary so if you're pregnant and going through this heat it is safe for you too. I kept 1 by the the bed, 1 in my purse and another in the living room. Spray it on like any body mist...back of the neck, across your chest and on your wrists. This special blend cools instantly and tames your bodies thermostat.

The Hathor makeup remover works really well! If you have ever used my eye shadow and especially my primer then you know how hard it is to remove. This stuff does the trick!

PRICES:
The prices are so reasonable and for a limited time you can use the coupon code: DAISY for 15% off! So hurry on over there! (Note: You may be reading this at a later time and the deal may have expired)

Supplier of the Month (July) rusticescentuals.com Review

This month I would like to give special mention to Aroma Haven & Rustic Escentuals

They sell candle, soap, lip balm and bath and body stuff. From them I purchased vegan lip balm base (since my original recipe doesn't work well in chap stick tubes), slider tins, pipettes and safety goggles. Not a lot, I know, but I had already purchased most of my inventory from other shops. I did pick this shop for my "supplier of the month" award (no actual prize for this award just a blog review) because of their customer service.

They included 2 very generous sized free fragrance samples, candies and a nice note in the package. Really makes you feel like a valued customer. But on top of that the fragrances are awesome. The slider tins are so very cute. The pipettes work great and have nifty marks for measuring. Their prices were fair and the shipping was one of the fastest out of all of the many sites I've ordered from.

My only problem was with the lip balm base. I used it to make some lip balm and when I put it into my slim lip balm tubes it is hard to roll up and it wont roll back down. So the lip balm gets stuck up after you screw it up. I have the problem with every lip balm recipe I have tried where I can't get the balm to roll back down... Anyway this lip balm base is especially hard. Like my original recipe was. Not really sure what to do to fix it. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. My lip balm used in my sliders is from my recipe which I tweaked and tweaked until it was nice a soft and creamy. But it doesn't work in tubes. I'm glad I bought the smaller amount of lip balm base and I think with some tweaking I can make it work. It seems like good quality and moisturizing just needs a little more oil or something. I also think coating the inside of the tube with oil will help my sliding issue.

To summarize my review:
  • Fast shipping but pretty expensive
  • Very well packaged
  • Generous Free Samples
  • Large fragrance selection
  • Great fragrances
  • Cheap Oils
Thanks for reading. And if anyone has any lip balm tips for me please oh please share.

Random Product Review 1: SlimCat Interactive Toy and Food Dispenser

I want to start doing "random product reviews" where I review something unrelated to beauty. Should be fun and interesting. Hope you enjoy!

For my first review I'll be talking about the: MultiVet SlimCat Interactive Toy and Food Dispenser.
My cat is fat. I hate to admit it but he is and I know that's my fault. Before I took him in he was alone and starving. Maybe because I felt bad for him i over fed him at first. I don't know. Even by following the amount it says to feed him on the cat food bag he just kept gaining weight. I have a theory that because he almost starved to death before I found him out in the desert, that his metabolism is messed up and stores all his food as fat to keep him from starving again. That is probably dumb but hey just a theory. He isn't obese or anything. He just has a little droopy belly and I want him to be slim and healthy and live a long life.

So i bought this ball. Its a toy and a food dish all wrapped into one.

In short: I like it!

It took a while for my cat to get used to using the ball to get his food. We had to sort of ease him into it and show it to him all the time. But now he knows that's where his food comes from and he uses it.

Its been about 2 months and he has lost 1 lb. (That's a lot for a cat, right?) He is much more slim and healthy looking now.

The ball holds the convenient amount of 1 day's worth of food it in. So we just fill it up once a day.

How it works: The ball holds the convenient amount of 1 day's worth of food it in. So we just fill it up once a day. It has holes in it and you can adjust how big they are. The cat plays with the ball and the food falls out.

Pros:

  • Holds one day's worth of food which makes it easy for me
  • You wont over feed your cat
  • Makes your lazy cat exercise more
  • Easy to clean. Just pop it in the dish washer
  • Cheap
  • Different difficulty settings
Cons:
  • Ball is a bit big. Because it holds a full days worth of food the ball is kinda big for a cat to play with. Maybe 2 smaller half serving balls would have been better.
  • I don't know how well it would work out in a multi-cat home
Tips:
  • Put the ball on a clean hard floor surface that will be good for the cat to eat off of. There will be constant crumbs created so sweep the floor often. We use the ball in our guest bathroom which isn't used much. That way we aren't always kicking it around and stepping on food.
  • Still us a normal dish for moist food. Don't feed your cat moist food all the time because its bad for their teeth but you should feed the moist food occasionally so they don't get a urinary infection or something like that.
  • If you raise your cat from a kitten with this ball they will probably be really good about using it and stay very fit.
  • Start the ball on an easy setting so the cat can get used to it and realize that's where their food comes from now.
  • Do not fill the ball completely or the food wont come out very easily.
  • Buy multiples if you travel a lot so the cat can still get a bit of exercise while you are gone. But remember each ball only holds one days worth of food so put extra food in a bowl if you will be a gone for several days.

Oh, since this is related i just wanted to mention: If you get a large breed puppy that is prone to growing pains, like a Great Dane or Mastiff you can get similar balls to these or "smart toys" which make the dog have to sit for hours thinking and working their brain instead of running around and hurting their legs. You put a treat in the ball and the dog lays down and works on getting it out. My mom's vet recommended this to her for her mastiff puppy. Mastiffs experience growing pains for many months.

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed and that your pet lives a long healthy life!

Supplier of the Month (June) SpecialtyBottle.com Review

I've order lots of different products from lots of different site but this month I want to award specialtybottle.com/ my "Supplier of the Month" award.

From them I ordered 4 oz jars for body butter and 16 oz clear oval jars for bath salt. I felt the prices were very fair. Much lower than the other sites I was comparing. Even including shipping into the total. For my order shipping was about $8.50 and took 5 business days. Which is actually faster shipping than some other companies I've used.

The main reason I picked them was because I received more than I ordered. I received extra jars and even more extra lids. I guess in case some don't fit or are damaged. They were all in great shape though so my price per unit ended up being even cheaper.

I will definitely order from them again when I need more bottles.

To summarize my review of Specialty Bottle:

  • Fair shipping cost/time
  • Good packaging
  • Quality products
  • Good prices
  • Received extras
  • Buy as little or as much as you want. No minimums
  • Large selection
For all your bottle needs: http://www.specialtybottle.com/

Thanks for reading!
